Dakota Ranch began back in 2013, born out of the Busschau family’s deep love for animals, nature, and a good old-fashioned adventure.
Then came 2020, and the whole world hit pause. But on a ranch, nestled in the heart of the Lowveld, that pause became purpose. The Busschau family took what began as a family hobby (pony rides, hikes, and rustic getaways) and turned it into a living, breathing outdoor adventure centre, for all to enjoy.
Today, Dakota Ranch is home to:
- Thrilling zip-lines that’ll steal your breath (and maybe your hat).
- A natural rock-climbing wall for those who don’t do “comfort zones.”
- Team-building workshops run by Mbombela’s own Crazy Dave, guaranteed to leave your crew laughing, learning, and probably a little muddy.
- Day tours and safaris through Kruger and More Safaris, for when you want your adventure to come with tusks and tails.
- A 20m x 60m sand arena for equestrian enthusiasts who prefer to bring their own horsepower.
And for the overnight crowd, pitch a tent under the stars or stay at Old Vic Traveler’s Inn, Mbombela’s most seasoned backpackers.
